Nothing is worse than when your ductless HVAC system decides to malfunction. Thankfully, it doesn’t usually mean it’s broken. Here are four easy fixes for your ductless HVAC problems:

System Won’t Boot Up

One of the first things to do in this case is to check the power supply. If that looks good, check to see if it’s plugged in.

A ductless HVAC system that refuses to turn on is rarely an internal system issue. But in those rare cases, you may need to bring in a professional to check your ductless system.

Unusual Smells

A stinky system is usually an indication of filth buildup, leading to potential air contamination. When your system pulls warm air in, it passes through evaporator coils, creating moisture. This moisture ends up in a drain pan, and irregular cleaning might give it a pungent aroma.

The fix for this issue is simple. Just clean the air filter, drain line and drain pan.

Noisy Operation

Ductless HVAC units are usually pretty quiet, but that’s not to say they don’t make any sound at all. In cases of banging, rattling and thumping, it might be a loose fan blade. A quick clean and tightening should do the trick. Otherwise, schedule a professional inspection.

Not Enough Air

A ductless HVAC unit not blowing enough air might be the result of general dirt buildup, more so if it’s outside. Clean the air filter, fan and remove any leaves or twigs from around the outdoor unit. Another cause could be low refrigerant levels, but you’ll need a professional for that fix.

Most minor problems with ductless HVAC units are simple to fix. If it’s anything more serious, contact us at Barker Air Conditioning and Heating. We’ll get your ductless unit operating the right way so that you can stay comfortable.
